Last week, we left our desks and went to help out a couple of very worthy non-profit organizations in our local community. Here are some highlights of what Hightail got up to on Volunteer Day.
Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT)
RAFT is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming teaching and inspiring the joy and discovery of learning through the use of engaging hands-on educational activities. We visited the Bay Area branch in San Jose to help assemble vibrating motor coil kits, which is a great way to teach kids about mechanics, while listening to 80’s rock music.
Humane Society Silicon Valley
The Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) provides shelter for rescue pets until they can find adoption families, as well as services like spaying/neutering and vaccinations. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to meet Jo PAW-velski, the cat that turned up on the ice during warm-ups before the San Jose Sharks’ recent play-off game against the Nashville Predators. The kitty is now in the care of HSSV where she is doing well.
Thanks to both organizations for having us and to everyone at Hightail who volunteered their time to help out.
