Hightail is celebrating our favorite photography on our #HighlyInspired Tumblr page. This month’s guest artist is Bay Area-based Kristine Herman. We caught up with her recently to talk New Year’s resolutions, the great outdoors and her favorite coffee.
How did you first get into photography?
I got into photography through a New Years resolution I made to myself last year. I made a promise that I would learn as much as I possibly could about my camera and photography. I’ve never turned back!
Who is your biggest photography inspiration?
My biggest photography inspiration has to be Alice Gao. Her photos are always so perfectly done. I love how clean they are and her use of minimalism is amazing.
Describe your style of photography
At the moment I really don’t feel like I particularly have a style yet. I’m still trying to figure myself out as a photographer. Right now I do take a lot of landscape but I’m hoping to change that in the future.
Why do you like photographing your coffee?
I like photographing my coffee because I think it’s such a great subject. Coffee shops are always so photogenic so I love to play with the light and see what kind of images I can get. Plus, it gives me another reason to buy some coffee!
What’s your usual coffee order?
My usual order is a vanilla latte. Can’t get enough of it!
What else inspires you?
Nature is a great inspiration for me. I love hiking, being outside and seeing how beautiful the earth is.
Where else can we see your work?
