Every Friday we round up some of our favorite finds on the web, from illustrations and videos to fonts and photography. This week, we anticipated the onset of summer with work that celebrated the season of fun and sun.

Summer of soul
German photographer Sandra Roeken captured a stunning beach scene then digitally layered it with textures to create this delightfully dreamy image she calls For Soul.

Book vacation
Everybody loves to read a good book when they’re on vacation. When The New York Times Book Review wanted to promote its holiday reads selection, they commissioned illustrator Johnny Kelly to help. Kelly’s team at creative agency Nexus then turned his work into this fun animated loop.

Playa’s gonna play
Argentina-born artist Xoana Herrera is now based in California where she is a graphic designer for creative agency, Buck. The beach life of Buenos Aires and Los Angeles is creatively captured in Playa – a stylish series of illustrations set on the shore.
